KBG-T-A Tele Style kit

A great starter kit, this guitar can be assembled and played in a matter of hours. However for those of you who are more adventurous than that just think of the possibilities for body finishes! This kit includes everything require for assembly, with an unfinished 3 piece solid ash or alder wood body, 21 fret bolt on maple neck with maple or rosewood fingerboard and unshaped/unbranded headstock. All hardware is provided with 6 chrome sealed machine nuts, a 3-ply pick-guard (please select colour) and a top loaded or string through 3 saddle vintage T style bridge. The electrics are part wired into a chrome finished switch plate with 1 volume, 1 tone control and a 3 way selector. Wiring (soldering) is required only to attach the pickups, ground and jack connector, wiring diagram is included.

I had wanted to have a go at building a T type from a kit, despite having fairly rudimentary DIY skills. This kit came with pretty much everything included (even a lead, strings & a small length of solder)!
I built it slowly over several months whilst watching as many YouTube videos on the subject as I could get my hands on. The most difficult part for me was working out the correct bridge position to keep everything in a straight line. That done, everything else was fairly straightforward and I have ended up with a very playable good sounding instrument.
Unsurprisingly in a kit at this price, some of the hardware is not that great and I made an early decision to replace the bridge assembly with something more substantial. The only other thing I have changed is th scratchplate, purely for aesthetic reasons. The tuners have a lot of lateral play but actually work very well in practice. The pickups are vastly better than they have any right to be and the guitar sounds great through my old Fender Power Chorus as well as my Laney LC15.
Although the guitar is essentially finished now, I will probably change the nut in the future to alter the string spacing slightly. Other than that, an excellent kit & great value for money.
Thinking of tackling the LP Junior next if someone gives me some Christmas money!

This was my first build and I started knowing practically nothing. I had loads of newbie questions and issues and Mike tirelessly helped me through getting this built. It's a budget kit but with care and attention it's a pretty good end product if you do it right. My advice is don't rush it, do loads of research, ask questions and where you can try out the steps (on some scrap wood!) before you do them. There are some mistakes that could ruin the whole build so recognise them and be careful. Of course, if you know what you are doing there is no problem. Again, thanks Mike for ALL your help and support and I'll be starting another one soon :)
