Excellent value for money bass
The kit arrived in a well packed box, with bubble plastic protection and padding for the main parts. It comes with an overview for soldering, but everything else you need to figure out on your own. But that's part of the fun!
The wood of the body looks great. However, it is a multi-piece glued body. This means you can see some transitions, which makes natural finish of the body less attractive. Still, the wood is of good quality and well glued. It is still rather rough, so it requires sanding to complete the finish with tung oil (which isn't in the kit).
The neck in my case was with maple fingerboard and this looks simply stunning. The frets are well placed and the neck is very smooth, requiring no finish except oiling.
There are some bits of this kit were the budget has taken its toll. The nut seems to be made of cheap plastic, the pick-up wires stick out at an odd angle, there is no cover over the thruss rod opening and the pick-guard didn't fit over the neck. All minor items that can be replaced or easily adapted.
Overall this kit is very good value for money. The fit between neck and body is very snug, and the wood components are of high quality. Other components less so, but these can be easily swapped if needed.
Once I complete the build I will update the review on how the bass sounds. Since I am shielding the pick-up and control openings I expect it to sound very decent.
